MYSTERE 4.3 Newsletter - February 4, 2002
NEW BOATS: The twenty new Mystere 4.3s are available for order now. The
boats are like we received last year with the following changes: Larger
beams, the rear beam has a built-in track for the Harken roller bearing
traveler that is included, the spinnaker is made of siliconized nylon cloth
for better snuffing, and there are two sets of trapezes (4 total). The boats
cost $3800 including delivery and are available immediately following the
regatta (Sunday, July 14). The boats are available for purchase on a first
come, first served basis and orders are secured with a check for at least
half the purchase price ($1900). The check should be made out to Mystere
International and specify U.S. dollars. These boats are priced about half
what a similarly equipped Nacra 4.5 would sell for. Lets sell them
all in this area to build our fleet. I have already heard from interested
buyers as far away as Florida. Everyone should contact people they know
to get them into a boat before they lose the chance. Contact Mike Fahle
at mcfahle@buckeye-express.com
to order or get more info.
RONSTAN BLOCKS
We attended the Chicago Strictly Sail Boat Show last Friday and made contact
with the Ronstan rep. He has agreed to replace any of the auto-ratchet blocks
that were not operating correctly for free. The deal is that I will collect
them and send them to him and he will replace he number I send in. So, if
you had any bad spinnaker sheet, here is your chance to replace it for a
new one. Just send it (them) to: Mike Fahle 30 65 117th Street Toledo, Ohio
43611. I will want to replace these in time for sailing season, so I will
tentatively plan to send in what I collect by mid March.
CLASS RULES
Jamie Diamond, Mike Teets, Mike Fahle, and Dave Fort have been finalizing
the draft class rules to present to all of the owners by the end of this
month for comment and to ratify. The intent is to have them ready for publication
on the website before the start of race season for the owners and for all
the interested parties involved with the USSA Youth Cat Nationals. Expect
to get an e-mail soon with the draft rules attached for your input.
2002 SEASON EVENTS
Bob Everson is finalizing OCRA events and will have those available soon.
If you have anything to add to last years events for this year, contact
Bob. I have asked that the Port Clinton Yacht Club include us in the Can
Race in August again and that OCRA include the PCYC Snowflurries regatta
on September 28th and 29th. I think that will happen since Alum Creek accommodated
that by moving their date back a week. Check the Mystere owners and
OCRA websites to plan your summer sailing! Make sure you post your events
to those websites. The popular Round The Bay Race will be June 15th
this year, so mark that one down first! Myster is planning a Mystere Classes
Championship but I have not heard a date yet - you will get the news as
soon as it is set! Stay warm and think sailing!
